£154.4 million will deliver more than 1,000 social and affordable homes

Eastleigh Borough Council will deliver 1,042 new social and affordable homes after securing £154.4 million from Homes England.
Homes England has chosen the Council as a Strategic Partner for its Social and Affordable Homes Programme 2026 to 2036.
Eastleigh is one of only three councils in England to be chosen.
What the announcement means
The partnership will give us long-term funding to deliver homes across a range of Council-owned sites.

Housing costs mean many people find it difficult to find a suitable home they can afford.
Our aim is to provide homes that meet local needs. This includes social and affordable rented homes and affordable routes into home ownership.
We also want homes to be good quality, energy efficient and affordable to live in over the long term.
Progress at One Horton Heath
One Horton Heath is our flagship development and an important part of our wider housing work. Construction is well under way on the first 381 homes at the Lower Acre. The first homes are now nearly finished and 35% of homes in this phase will be affordable.
The first shared ownership home has already been reserved.
Shared ownership can help people who cannot afford to buy a suitable home outright. Buyers purchase a share of the property and pay rent on the part they do not own.
Homes at One Horton Heath are being delivered through eastbrooke homes.
The Council is planning the development as a complete community. As well as homes, One Horton Heath will include a new primary school, local centre, green spaces, sports facilities and walking and cycling routes.
Building on work already under way
Our partnership with Homes England is not new.
Previous Homes England grant funding has helped us provide social rented homes at Airey Place in Netley and Postmark Place in Eastleigh town centre.
Around £20 million of earlier government funding also helped us deliver key road infrastructure at One Horton Heath.
The new Strategic Partnership means we can now plan affordable housing over a longer period and across several sites.
Our 1,042-home programme is well advanced. Around 91% of the homes already have planning permission or are included in a live planning application.

“The first homes at One Horton Heath are nearly finished and the first shared ownership home has been reserved. This partnership will help us build on that progress across the Borough.”
